Dr Areti Metuamate (Ngati Kauwhata, Ngati Raukawa, Ngati Haua & Cook Island Maori) is the chief executive of Te Kupenga, a new PTE formed by the merger of Good Shepherd College and the Catholic Institute of Aotearoa New Zealand. He has worked in a number of tertiary organisations in both New Zealand and Australia and also served on boards in the education and health sectors.
Dr Areti Metuamate has professional experience in university administration, Indigenous research & engagement, education policy, and regulation (education and health).
He has 10 years’ experience working in the tertiary education in both NZ and Australia and is currently a Board Member of Ako Matatupu (Teach First NZ) and a Trustee of the Raukawa ki te Tonga Trust.
In a personal capacity, Areti is active in his iwi and local Cook Islands community and has experience working on a number of fundraising campaigns with a specific focus on campaign strategy and stakeholder engagement.
