Hagley Learning Centre

Hagley Learning Centre (HLC) provides literacy and numeracy support to adult learners across Christchurch. Classes are part time and government funded. HLC holds the national Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark (2022 and 2025).  We work hard to meet the needs of learners with dyslexia and other learning challenges, and we provide a positive learning environment.

Classes include:

  • Everyday English for those learning English as a second language (ESOL)
  • Youth Literacy Pathways for young adults working towards NCEA L1
  • First Steps class for those with intellectual impairments
  • Community courses focusing on individual goals and skills
  • Workplace programme for those in the workforce wanting to improve literacy, numeracy, communication and workplace-related skills.
